Summer is when small inconveniences become impossible to ignore. The fan that barely circulates air. The swimsuit that's seen better days. It's the season of replacing the sandals that barely survived last year, finally buying the SPF you'll actually want to wear, and convincing yourself that the internet-famous kitchen gadget everyone keeps talking about might, in fact, change your life.
Fortunately, many of the biggest retailers are making a compelling case for treating yourself. From beauty and fashion to home essentials and tech, summer sales are in full swing — and some of the discounts are jaw-droppingly good.
Ahead: the crème de la clearance. The markdowns that matter. The deals you’ll want to shop before they vanish like your last vacation day.

Amazon: With Prime Day right around the corner, there are big savings on the horizon, but there are also plenty of pre-Prime deals to shop before the big event. Everything from televisions to pool-ready sandals are marked down, with tons of products under $50, too.
Sleep Number: If warmer nights have you rethinking your sleep setup, Sleep Number's June sale may be worth a look. Through June 15, the retailer is offering discounts on mattresses, cooling sleep products, and temperature-regulating bedding, including up to $400 off select mattresses and 25 percent off select bedding and pillows.
Nordstrom: The sale section at Nordstrom never misses, but it can be a pain to sift through — especially when there are 60,000 items marked down. After scrolling until they could scroll no more, here's what our editors deemed the best deals: under-$40 linen pants, a 100-percent silk midi dress for under $200, and retro-inspired adidas for only $44.
J.Crew: This is not a drill: Get up to 50 percent off tops, dresses, skirts, and more over at J.Crew now until June 15. Several of our editors say sweet linen dresses like this one are their secret cooling weapon in swampy summer heat, but crisp poplin dresses come in a close second. One of Katie's favorite swimsuit styles is also over 50 percent off, and we'd pair it with these flowy beach pants (also half off) for a boardwalk-ready ensemble.
Summer Fashion Sales
Zappos: A strappy little flip-flop could be your wardrobe's secret weapon this summer. Not only are they extremely comfortable, but they'll go with truly any outfit. If you want something more substantial, these leather slides are under $100, and these trendy, metal-embellished sandals are under $50.
Madewell: Staple V-necks for only $15 and Katie's go-to tank for under $35 are just a few of the gems you can currently find over in Madewell's sale.
Summer Home Sales
Wayfair: Wayfair is offering 70 percent off select products right now, turning its overstock inventory into your chance to save. If you've been hoping to refresh your patio this summer, this umbrella, which feels like it belongs at a swanky resort, is 43 percent off, and this eight-piece modular furniture set, which comes with a fire pit, sectional, and side table, is 19 percent off.
Saatva: Staff members Justine Carreon and Katie Pittman are both Saatva evangelists. They can attest that their mattresses have helped alleviate joint pain and led to more comfortable sleep. Currently, the brand is offering up to $300 off when you buy a bed and any of the mattress models, such as the Classic, RX, or Contour5.
Summer Beauty and Wellness Sales
Sephora: Now until June 23, save up to 50 percent on makeup, skincare, and more over at Sephora, including several of our Timeless Beauty Awards winners, like JVN's hair-repairing gloss, Danessa Myricks's eyeshadow, and Pattern Beauty's conditioner.
Summer Tech Sales
Walmart: You can always count on Walmart to roll back prices on electronics, no matter the season. Right now, get $100 off Apple Watches, a 75-inch HD TV for under $450, and a massage gun that'll ease aches and pains for only $40. Not in the market for tech? Plenty of patio furniture, BBQ essentials, and lawn care equipment are also marked down.
