About Fair Harbor

For siblings Jake and Caroline Danehy, the foundations of Fair Harbor were laid long before they made their first pair of swim trunks. Having spent their childhood summers on the beaches of New York’s Fire Island, the Danehys recognized how vulnerable those beaches are to pollution and decided to find a way to protect their beloved haven. They started Fair Harbor as a way to keep discarded plastic out of the oceans and off the beaches, incorporating recycled materials like nylon, polyester, cotton, and more into every item to maximize comfort and sustainability. It’s paid off big time: Since launching in 2014, Fair Harbor has repurposed more than 30 million plastic bottles.

Why we love them

In addition to its commitment to doing right by the environment, Fair Harbor has worked to ensure its products go above and beyond the competition in terms of style and comfort. The best-known example is Fair Harbor’s BreezeKnit Liner, which ditches scratchy mesh in favor of stretchy, supportive, and moisture-wicking fabric that moves with you throughout the day without causing any chafing. We recommend the Anchor short for the beach athletes out there, and the lightweight Bayberry Trunk for anyone who actually likes to relax by the water. While you’re at it, check out the women’s athleisure options and the ultra-stealable men’s tops like the Robinson Sweater or Bayshore Fleece.
