About Allbirds
Allbirds started with a question: Why wasn’t merino wool — a high performing, renewable resource — being used to its full potential? After all, the superfine wool creates a soft, breathable, and odor-minimizing fabric. So New Zealand native Tim Brown joined forces with engineer and renewables expert Joey Zwilinger to create Allbirds, a revolutionary shoe company that sees environmental stewardship as an advantage rather than a compromise. Allbirds uses sustainably raised tree fiber fabric, sugarcane-based soles, and innovative Trino yarn that combines tree fiber with merino wool. As it currently operates, Allbirds is a carbon-neutral company through offsetting its emissions, but it’s working on going deeper: The brand plans to cut emissions in half by 2025 and bringing that number to almost zero by 2030, proving that the rest of the fashion industry truly can do better.

Why we love them
They call themselves the world’s most comfortable shoe, and they mean it. KCM’s Mary Kate says her Allbirds Wool Runners (available in men’s sizes too!) feel like walking on air. If you need footwear with all-weather protection, the Runner-up Mizzles are water-repellent and perfect for commuting. While their sneakers are our go-to style, their slip-ons are also ideal for something a little more office-friendly. And though they’re famous for their footwear, don’t write off Allbird’s apparel, which is created from the same renewable resources. The clothes are basics at their finest: timeless, endlessly wearable, and long-lasting.
