A new crop of wealthy, entitled, and ultimately ill-fated guests are ready to check into the White Lotus.
HBO recently announced the new cast for season 3 of the hit show. So far, each season has focused on a new group of vacationers — and the locals catering to them. In season 1, we saw Connie Britton, Molly Shannon, and of course, Jennifer Coolidge lounging around a luxurious Maui resort. Season 2 blessed us with Coolidge again, along with Aubrey Plaza, Michael Imperioli, and several other stars, roaming around Sicily.
Here’s a look at the stars joining The White Lotus universe for season 3, which cast member is returning to the show, the uber-fancy hotel where the season’s rumored to take place, and more.
The new cast of The White Lotus season 3
White has added some serious talent to his HBO dramedy. We’ve got the hilarious, 90s “it” girl Parker Posey, Jason Isaacs (who you might know better as Lucius Malfoy from the Harry Potter franchise), Michelle Monaghan (Mission Impossible: Fallout, The Path); Carrie Coon (The Gilded Age), and Leslie Bibb (Iron Man).
Two Thai actors, Tayme Thapthimthong and Dom Hetrakul, are also joining the cast. And returning to the show is Natasha Rothwell, who played a spa manager let down by Coolidge’s Tanya in season one.
“My heart is full!” Rothwell wrote on Instagram. “Words cannot even begin to express how excited, grateful and humbled I am to have the chance to breathe life into Belinda once again.”
Where will The White Lotus season 3 take place?
Fans have been speculating for a while now that the third season would be set in Thailand, but the rumors weren’t confirmed until last week. The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) and HBO announced that filming would begin in February in Bangkok, Phuket, and Ko Samui.
After the second season wrapped at the end of 2022, White hinted that season three may take place in Asia. The show’s creator told HBO that “the first season kind of highlighted money, and then the second season is sex. I think the third season would be maybe a satirical and funny look at death and Eastern religion and spirituality.”
Nothing’s been made official, but some internet sleuths are convinced they’ve figured out which high-end hotel will be featured in the show next.
Since the first two seasons were filmed at Four Seasons resorts, fans think the third will be too. There are four Four Seasons in Thailand, but only its Koh Samui location — a five-star, beachfront hotel — is all booked for February, one TikTok user pointed out in a November video. Again, nothing has been confirmed yet, so we’ll just have to wait and see what gorgeous getaway gets the White Lotus treatment.
When is The White Lotus season 3 coming out?
New episodes were scheduled to drop this year, but production was delayed due to the writers’ strike. A firm release date has yet to be announced. You can stream old seasons of the show on Max, or with a premium subscription, you can watch on platforms like Hulu, Amazon Prime, and YouTube.
