In the interview, Aniston was asked how she wanted the world to remember Perry, to which she replied, “As he said he’d love to be remembered.” In 2022, Perry said he wanted people to think of him “as somebody who lived well, loved well, was a seeker,” and most importantly, as someone who helped people.

Jennifer Aniston texted Matthew Perry the day he died

Many people have wondered if the Friends cast members kept in touch after the show ended, and Aniston revealed that she was in communication with Perry the day he died. “I was literally texting with him that morning, funny Matty,” she said. She said that when they were texting, “He was not in pain. He wasn’t struggling. He was happy.”

Perry had been open about his health struggles through the years, but he was in a better place at the time of his death. “He was happy. He was healthy. He had quit smoking. He was getting in shape. He was happy — that’s all I know.”

She stressed, “I want people to know he was really healthy, and getting healthy. He was on a pursuit. He worked so hard.” She also acknowledged his struggles with addiction, saying, “He really was dealt a tough one. I miss him dearly. We all do. Boy, he made us laugh really hard.”

On Nov. 15, Aniston posted a message on Instagram celebrating Perry’s life. Among the sweet snaps she shared was a screenshot of a text conversation, where Perry told Aniston that making her laugh made his day. “In the last couple weeks, I’ve been pouring over our texts to one another,” she wrote in her Instagram caption. “Laughing and crying then laughing again. I’ll keep them forever and ever.”
