About Faherty

For twin brothers Mike and Alex Faherty, founding their eponymous clothing brand is the culmination of a lifelong dream inspired by their childhood in coastal New Jersey. From day one, Faherty has made it a priority to integrate sustainable, ethically made clothing with a focus on quality and design into people’s wardrobes: Their vintage-inspired, trend-proof pieces are built for the ages. After appropriating designs in the past (and taking accountability for their missteps), Faherty has worked to develop an equitable relationship with Native and Indigenous communities by partnering with Native artists, giving back to Indigenous organizations, and educating its community about Native history and erasure. In doing so, Faherty is aiming to set a higher bar for how the fashion industry treats people, the planet, and communities.

Why we love them

Everyone loves those flannels and sweaters that have been passed down from parents, older siblings, or even grandparents, but those well-loved items are few and far between. Faherty is aiming to create apparel that’s both comfortable off the rack and durable enough to pass on, and they’re making it a priority to do it all responsibly. The Faherty brothers specifically wanted something that felt vintage, but with the positive updates of modern fashion like added stretch. Our colleague Lisa says her Knit Seasons Shirt is her summer evening go-to. It’s cut like a boyfriend-style button down, but made with a soft, 100 percent cotton fabric that feels like a cozy t-shirt and is easier to care for than a dress shirt — no ironing needed.
