The cost of fitting in: According to recent research from Express Employment Professionals-Harris Poll, 67% of job seekers say they’ve changed their personality to fit in better at work. But interestingly, 56% of respondents also said that their character traits had little bearing on their ability to do their jobs, suggesting a mismatch between what employees feel is expected of them socially and the realities of their work.

Retirement rebound: Americans’ retirement savings hit record highs this year, according to Fidelity’s latest report on the status of more than 55 million retirement accounts. Average 401(k) balances reached $155,800, up 13% from the same time last year, while the average contribution rate hit 14.4%.

AI on the DL: A new Workday survey found that 50% of respondents had intentionally hidden their use of AI at work within the last month. Among leaders and managers, the figure was even higher, clocking in at 58% and 61%, respectively.

Move over, burnout: The term “rustout” is gaining traction to describe the frustration and boredom that sets in when a worker isn’t sufficiently challenged or their talents aren’t put to good use. According to a recent study, roughly 40% of workers say they've suffered from what the American Psychological Association calls “stagnation angst.”
