If you’ve been watching this season of The Golden Bachelorette, you’ve probably noticed that Joan’s made it clear she wants a partner she can have fun with. Unsurprisingly, the individual and group dates (like prom night and a trip to Disneyland) have been pretty lighthearted so far — and this week is no exception.
Episode 3 will feature a group date round of kickball, and we have an exclusive first look at the fun and games.
In our teaser, you get a sneak peek at how the men fare on the field. First, she introduces some professional help: former football players Andre Reed and Eric Dickerson…because kickball and football are so similar…
And if you think these 60-plus-year-olds would retreat at the sight of an athletic field, you’re wrong. (If we’ve learned anything from this show, it’s that some people have this generation all wrong.) The contestants seem stoked. And from what we can see in the clip, the ensuing game is high-energy and highly entertaining. Charles K. is pumped and ready to win, while Charles L. has no idea what’s going on but is being a good sport. Gregg goes above and beyond sliding onto the base before proclaiming, “Something got triggered in me; there’s a lotta life left in this old guy.” Aw!
Joan is visibly impressed by the passion and athleticism — and we can’t blame her.
Let’s not forget, Joan told us that activities make an “ideal” date in her mind. “My typical first date is, you meet at a restaurant that has a bar and you have a drink, which is really safe, because you can leave after one drink. You can get out of it easily if you’re not having a great time. If you are having a great time, hopefully the guy is too and will suggest dinner,” she told us before the season premiered. “But I’d rather go on a fun date. I’d rather go to a sporting event or wine tasting, or, you know, just something a little different than the typical ‘go and sit at a restaurant bar and have a drink with somebody.'” So, we can probably expect more interactive and athletic dates throughout the season.
And the contestants clearly won’t have any issue with that. If the clip tells us anything, it’s that these men aren’t afraid of some healthy competition. We can’t wait to see how they react as the stakes get higher.
You’ll be able to watch the full game unfold this week on The Golden Bachelorette, but read our recap of last week’s episode first to find out who Joan eliminated after prom night, a talent show, and some smooching.
