Plus, all the details on how to watch the ceremony.

If you’re an avid fan of award season, you’re already anticipating the biggest night in Hollywood: The Academy Awards. In 2024, we’re celebrating 96 years of this exciting event, in which stars and filmmakers vie for the industry’s top achievements.

This year’s celebration is particularly unique, given that 2023 saw the monumental double strike orchestrated by the Writer’s Guild of America and the Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists. While professionals abstained from work, viewers waited for delayed or canceled projects. Now that the strike has been settled, we’re all a little more appreciative of everything the entertainment industry has to offer.

To celebrate, we’ve compiled everything you need to know about the 2024 Academy Awards — including all the nominees. On the list, you’ll find shoe-ins for best picture: Barbie and Oppenheimer both made the list, which will seem obvious given last summer’s Barbenheimer craze. That said, there were some controversial snubs: Barbie director Greta Gerwig was denied a Best Director nomination, and the Academy didn’t nominate Margot Robbie for her performance as the famous doll, while Ryan Gosling was recognized. Be sure to tune in for more drama and maybe some surprising upsets.
