Emmy-Award winning host and activist Jeannie Mai shares what she’s up to this weekend
Jeannie Mai‘s got a lot going on. Between hosting The Real, working as an anti-trafficking activist, hosting her YouTube show Hello Hunnay, creating an upcoming clothing line, and stepping onboard as the Chief Brand Officer for tea-based spiked and sparkling beverage Owl’s Brew, she’s also calling attention to the rampant rise in racism against Asian- Americans. Jeannie took the time to share what she’ll be up to this weekend… if she finds a few minutes to unwind!
What to read: My really good friend BJ recently gifted me a book called The Boy, the Mole, the Fox, and the Horse by Charlie Mackesy. It is the most beautiful, simple book about life and friendship. The greatest books can calm your nerves and remind you of how it feels to receive a warm hug.
What to wear: These days I’m wearing sweats!
What to listen to: Tim Ferris. I love his podcast – it just has so many helpful tips for life. And who doesn’t love a podcast that makes you feel smarter by the end of the show?
What to watch: I would recommend watching Stopping Traffic, a documentary that I executive-produced with Sadhvi Siddhali Shree and Sadhvi Anubhuti, which breaks down what sex trafficking is and what to do if you spot it.
What to cook: My favorite dish would be Goi Ga. It’s a refreshing Vietnamese Chicken Salad made with cabbage, rotisserie chicken, and lots of herbs, topped with peanuts and fried shallots, and dressed with a sweet and tart dressing. It also gives you so much energy!
