Robin Hood Foundation’s Wes Moore on Covid-19 Relief and Advice for New Grads

For Molner’s Table — Katie Couric Media’s business talk show — our CEO John Molner is joined by Wes Moore, the CEO of The Robin Hood Foundation, one of the largest anti-poverty organizations in the country. Wes is a Rhodes Scholar, Army veteran, New York Times best-selling author, and a friend of ours. In a wide-ranging interview, Wes tells John: On the new Power Fund: “About 80% of the two million people living in poverty are people of color,” but only 10% of philanthropic dollars go to orgs led by people of color. The initiative seeks to change that. The pandemic “has had disastrous impacts on communities and families that were already struggling beforehand.” On calls to defund the police: “I’m a big believer in this idea that budgets are moral documents… Our governmental budgets should be the exact same thing.” Advice for new grads: “Every system that you relied on or thought about is getting rethought. And frankly, the people who are doing the rethinking and the reshaping are no more competent or no more certain than you are. They’re still trying to figure it out, too.” If you’re able, please join us in donating to Robin Hood here: https://give.robinhood.org/give/27711…
