Julianna Margulies shares her suggestions for what to watch, cook and more this weekend
You may know Julianna Margulies as The Good Wife, but she’s also a Sunshine Girl. That’s the title of her new memoir, which proves that she’s so much more than the roles she plays on TV. Below, Julianna shares her recommendations for this weekend — including some great suggestions for people who miss The Good Wife! I’ll be talking with Julianna in a few weeks about Sunshine Girl on my podcast Next Question, so make sure to keep an eye out for our conversation!
What to Watch:
The Split on HULU. If you’re missing The Good Wife, here’s a brilliant English version. The lead actress Nicola Walker is fantastic, as is the rest of the cast. Also, I know I’m always late to the game with catching up on my television-watching but watch Normal People! I binged all of it in two days because I couldn’t get enough of those brilliant actors. Just a gorgeous watch.
What to Read:
Walking with Ghosts by Gabriel Byrne, The Dutch House by Ann Patchett, and The Vanishing Half by Brit Bennett.
What to Listen To:
Brandi Carlile. Yet again, I’m late to the game with this one, but I can’t stop listening to her. A friend of mine saw her concert a few years ago in LA, where she covered Joni Mitchell’s Blue album and I’m still furious that I wasn’t there. Her voice is magic.
What to cook:
This pandemic was a challenge when it came to keep coming up with new and exciting dishes. But I finally realized I didn’t have to try so hard: My go-to is a crispy garlic salmon, French string beans, and what my son calls “mama rice” which is really just brown rice with sautéed onions and toasted almond slivers mixed in. Then everyone’s happy.
What to Wear:
Anything comfortable. I seem to be living in the same pair of jeans, and my favorite black V-neck Nili Lotan light cashmere sweater, with my On Cloud sneakers. I just discovered these sneakers (again, late to the game), and they’re the most comfortable things I’ve ever put on my feet. Please note, this is not a paid endorsement: They truly have changed my life for the better!
