The Good on Paper star gives her recommendations for what to watch, read, and more this weekend
Iliza Shlesinger certainly knows how to make lemons into lemonade. That’s what the comedian did with Good on Paper, a hilarious new Netflix film she wrote and starred in, based on her real-life experience dating a serial liar. If the movie makes you laugh (which we assure you it will), make sure to get your tickets to see Shlesinger perform live on her Back in Action stand-up tour, which is already underway! She generously offered us some weekend recommendations and in our humble opinion, this funny gal has fantastic taste: Tater-in-a-Mug? Don’t mind if we do!
What to watch: I loved Mare of Eastown. Kate Winslet is a genius and Craig Zobel did a brilliant job of creating a real sense of place in that blue collar Pennsylvania town. I also love It’s a Sin, which is so beautiful and tragic. And I’m looking forward to season two of Industry and season seven of Bosch — because I’m in it!
What to cook: Cook a potato in the microwave for like 9 minutes, then cut it in half and put half in a mug. Add your butter and toppings and presto-tasto, you have a quick easy and filling Tater-in-a-Mug.
What to listen to: I listen to the Radiolab podcast, Aaron Mahnke’s Lore and, of course, I recommend my own podcast Ask Iliza Anything.
What to wear: I love black high-waisted jeans, a slightly oversized vintage black T-shirt, and whatever shoes are most comfortable to stand on stage in for over an hour.
What to read: I loved Gary Janetti’s Do You Mind if I Cancel? Educated was brilliant, and Kevin Wilson’s novel Nothing to See Here is one of the most unique stories I’ve read.
