Keep busy and have fun with these eight Easter activities
For many, Easter weekend means that spring is finally here! Regardless of whether you celebrate the holiday or not, it’s the perfect time to finally get outdoors after being cooped up for all these months. We’ve put together a list of eight fun Easter activities to try this weekend with your friends and family. We hope you enjoy, and happy Easter to those who will be celebrating!
#1 Good Old Fashioned Egg Painting
Nothing says Easter like painting eggs. If you’d rather avoid having a carton full of beautifully decorated hard boiled eggs slowly rotting on your kitchen counter, then we suggest this Egg Painting Party Kit. It comes with six wooden eggs and a variety of paints, brushes, glitter, and stickers, along with a cute little basket to display your work when you’re done. The best part? There’s no need to throw them away. You can keep your masterpieces and display them again next year!
#2 Easter Egg Hunt
Kids of all ages love an Easter egg hunt and, if the weather is nice, it’s a great socially-distanced outdoor activity to enjoy with friends and neighbors. Save yourself some time filling up each egg individually with these candy-filled eggs. They’ve got jellybeans, lemon heads, and stickers, and with 65 of them to hide and find, it’s an activity that can keep your family engaged for hours.
#3 Tie-Dye Kit
If you’re not into painting eggs, but you’re still looking for a fun and colorful activity that you can do outside, try this One-Step Tie-Dye Kit. It comes with 14 colors and a step-by-step guide that features more than eight tie-dye looks. (PSA: Be sure to wear gloves. Those colors can stain your skin for days!) We’re all about tie-dying the classic Hanes white T-Shirt, but if you’re feeling adventurous, you could try making a whole tie dye sweatsuit!
#4 A Family Board Game
A great way to bring the family together is by playing a game. If your group is a bit older, we love Codenames — just watch out, it can get competitive! If you’ve got younger kids in the group, classics like Jenga and Candyland are always sure to please.
#5 Attend Easter Mass at the Vatican
If you usually go to an Easter church service but are unable to attend in person this year, some of the biggest and most beautiful churches in the world are offering virtual services. Pope Francis will celebrate Easter Mass on Sunday at 11 a.m. in Rome, 5 a.m. EST. If that’s a little early for you, the gorgeous Saint Patrick’s Church in New York City will stream Mass at 10:15 EST.
#6 Lawn Games
A little healthy competition might be exactly what the doctor ordered this weekend. Kan Jam, Ladder Toss, and Spikeball are all games that are easy to set up in any reasonably sized backyard or park. These lawn games are not difficult for beginners age 12 and older to pick up quickly. Kan Jam and Spikeball in particular will get you quite a bit of exercise if you’re looking to work off some of that Easter brunch!
#7 Easter Manicures
Like a red and green set of nails at Christmas, a pastel mani for Easter can make the day feel all the more special. We love almost everything that Olive & June makes when it comes to nail care, but for Easter, we recommend this cheerful yellow, robin egg blue, lilac purple or baby pink to really make you feel like spring has sprung. If you want to go even further, add some flower nail art!
#8 An Easter Read
No matter how old you are, there’s something special about reading to — or being read to — by the ones you love. While everyone in your family might have different taste in books, The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse is a sweet, simple story that we promise everyone in your family will love… and it might even inspire some acts of kindness!
