About UrbanStems
Sending flowers was a regular part of Ajay Kori’s long-distance relationship until the bouquet he ordered for his girlfriend’s birthday never arrived. Unfortunately, a five-minute internet search showed Kori that his experience wasn’t unusual. At the time, flower-ordering websites routed purchases to local florists who were disconnected from the customer, which decreased efficiency and quality of service. Recognizing the lack of accountability, Kori founded UrbanStems with his college friend, Jeff Sheely, to provide an alternative that could guarantee high quality and timeliness. UrbanStems does everything in-house: Sourcing flowers from Rainforest Alliance Certified farms that are ethical and sustainable, assembling them at its Washington, D.C. warehouse, then handing them off to trusted delivery partners for nationwide, next-day delivery.
