About Naadam
Like some of the best things on earth, Naadam was born out of friendship. While traveling in remote swaths of the Mongolian Gobi Desert, college friends Matthew Scanlan and Diederik Rijsemus befriended local shepherds and learned about the extortionary practices of typical cashmere traders: Paying herders poorly, then making a hefty profit by marking up cashmere to sky-high prices. Seeing the opportunity to do right by both producers and customers, Scanlan and Rijsemus founded Naadam on a model of paying herders a fair price directly, eliminating the middleman’s inflated costs, and passing those savings on to customers without cutting corners on quality.
Why we love them
When it comes to buttery soft fabric, cashmere is unmatched, but it’s also notoriously pricey. Enter Naadam’s signature $75 Sweater, which is made of 100 percent cashmere from sustainably raised goats, and comes in enough colors to fit any wardrobe — and comes in men’s sizes, too. In addition to classic silhouettes like turtlenecks and cardigans, Naadam also makes hoodies, sweatpants, polos, and much more, in cashmere and cashmere blends (plus tools to keep them looking snazzy). Our current obsession is the Recycled Cashmere Ribbed Henley, which blends the luxurious feel of cashmere with the everyday style of a henley.
