About Mizuba Tea Company

Much more than a menu item in trendy coffee shops, matcha has long been a staple of Japanese life. But for those not based in Tokyo, Mizuba Tea Company delivers the highest-quality Japanese green tea straight from farmers in Uji, recognized as Japan’s best tea-growing region and matcha’s birthplace. Founder Lauren Purvis first visited Uji as a college student, and met the matcha farmer who’d eventually become Mizuba’s supplier. Since then, Purvis has been on a mission to uphold traditions, share transparently sourced tea with the world, and educate her customers about matcha’s rich history. Mizuba’s single-origin teas stand out in a market flooded with inauthentic products: It’s a difference you can taste.

Why we love them

Matcha’s popularity has boomed in the U.S. recently, but it’s rare to find a company with deep respect for the centuries of tradition intertwined with it. Mizuba Tea Company is an exception: Each cup celebrates matcha’s history and supports Japanese farmers passionate about their work. Alongside a score of health benefits, Mizuba’s Daily tea has a light flavor profile perfect for your morning cup or afternoon slump. KCM’s Alissa appreciates that Mizuba stays true to its goal of selling only the highest-quality matcha in existence, rather than playing into gimmicks. Her personal favorite is the House Organic matcha, which works well in lattes or served over ice.
