About Leeway Home
Sam Dumas and Lyle Maltz have a story that’s both uniquely New York and universal: They moved to NYC to work in fashion, lived in tiny apartments on even tinier budgets, relocated a lot, and, when they eventually moved in together and got married, had more mismatched bowls and dishes than they knew what to do with. Seeing a gap in the market, Dumas and Maltz created Leeway Home as a tableware brand you can build and carry with you through every phase of life. True to its name, Leeway’s kits and add-ons give you the flexibility to outfit your kitchen cabinets at your own pace and according to your own needs, all at prices even a recent grad can stomach. Shopping for dishes has never been so painless.
Why we love them
Aside from the headache-eliminating premise of Leeway’s kits and sets, the products themselves are well-made and thoughtfully designed. Take The Leeway Dish: It bridges the gap between a bowl and a plate and is perfect for one-pan/one-person meals. The Entry Way set has two of these dishes, plus the bare minimum of cutlery for two people so you don’t have any extra forks taking up space in your drawer. If you’re ready for something a little bigger, The Full Way has four complete place settings — plus wine glasses — that you can further supplement as your household or hosting duties get larger. But our favorite is The Drinks Way (one each of Leeway’s wine, coupe, flute, tall, and short glasses) because studio-dwellers deserve to enjoy champagne properly, too.
