How To Channel ‘Big Money Energy’ — And Find Success in 2021

Big Money Energy

Top real estate agent Ryan Serhant’s advice on getting what you really want out of your life

Before Ryan Serhant was one of the top-rated real estate agents in NYC, and host of Bravo’s Millionaire Dollar Listing New York, he was an aspiring real estate agent, trying to get by in New York City.

It wasn’t easy in the beginning  — and he found himself doubting himself and his abilities at every turn. “I just saw people around me doing deals left and right,” he told KCM. “You know, making money, paying rent, not being nervous about money. And it just was frustrating because I thought…why not me? What are they doing that is so different?”

One day, a high-paying client unexpectedly reached out to him. Serhant thought about referring her to someone more experienced, but stopped himself in his tracks. He decided to change his “defeatist attitude,” trust his abilities and say, “yes.”

“I realized that the only way for me to get forward was to make changes to things that I could control,” he told KCM. “I had to find the absolute best version of myself in my core because that person was in there and I just had been hiding him.”

Serhant noticed one quality in all of the realtors he envied: “They all carried themselves with this, what I called big magnetic energy…They were confident in their own abilities, and they attracted success.”

After that client, Serhant began embracing this ethereal big magnetic energy, which he now calls Big Money Energy, and his career took off. Now, he’s making it easier for you to achieve this type of success in your own life, with his new book, Big Money Energy.

Many are facing pandemic-related burnout, and are finding it hard to stay motivated during these tough times. Serhant has some advice for setting small goals and taking your first steps towards a happier life, more in line with what you really want.

Find your worth:

You have to believe that you are worth it. A lot of people don’t ever strive for this step because they don’t believe they’re ready. They might have imposter syndrome, or they didn’t go to a good school or any school, and they just don’t feel that they’re the right person for the job, even if they totally are. You have to think, ‘You know, why not me?’”

Reset your mindset:

“When you can’t change your circumstances, there’s one thing you can change: your energy. If you focus on what you can change, it will propel you into the next steps so that you can start living for the future you.”

Find your motivation:

“If you are just motivated by money, I will tell you it’s not going to work. There needs to be a personal connection.”

Follow through with your goals:

Success to me is being able to consistently hit a goal that you set for yourself that you do not negotiate with. If you set a goal for yourself to wake up at 5 a.m. every day for a month and go for a jog because you want to lose weight and you do it, you are successful. And you have to do it in both small and large doses so that you have micro wins every day.”

Amplify your strengths:

You need to mask your insecurities and amplify the traits that are working for you. So really think about what you might not like about yourself and also think about what you’re pretty good at. Then forget the things you don’t like because there are things that you already do well that you can start amplifying today. Say, everyone else around you is really, really smart. You can’t do math in your head the way they do, but you can talk, you have the gift of gab. That is a trait you should start amplifying.”
