Weekend Whats: John Molner

John Molner

Molner on his favorite golf outfit and a perfect family recipe for December

Snowed in this weekend and not sure what to do? Never fear: Molner is here! He’s got some suggestions that should keep you entertained whether you’re bundled up like us in the northeast, or bathing-suit clad down south.

What to Read:

A Promised Land by Barack Obama. Just starting what I expect will be an incredible, candid and very personal story by our 44th president. Also, I have been reading the final draft chapters of Katie’s upcoming memoir! Spoiler alert: it’s really, really good!

What to Watch:

The Flight Attendant, a thriller on HBO Max. This was the perfect followup to previous shows, The Queen’s Gambit, The Crown and The Undoing.

What to Cook:

Jonathan Waxman’s spaghetti carbonara from his cookbook, The Barbuto Cookbook.  Katie and I made this with him a few weeks ago. One tip: Let the pan cool before feeding in egg yolks. Also, Chef Waxman suggests guanciale rather than pancetta. Quick, delicious and very satisfying for a cold December family dinner.

What to Wear:

I’m just back from a short golf trip. (We were tested for Covid-19 before leaving and again prior to entering the grounds of the golf club.) My friends at Peter Millar sent me a wonderful golf long jacket and vest. I also brought along a pair of Greyson trousers and these Lululemon pants. Off the course, I wore these stylish — and unbelievably comfortable  —  Peter Millar shoes.

What to Listen to:

Armchair Expert. I’ve recently become an “Armcherry,” as host Dax Shephard calls his listeners. This dude keeps it real with great guests including Matthew McConaughey, Natalie Portman…and on and on.
