It’s a love story, baby, and she said yes.

After two years together, Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce are officially tying the knot — turning their whirlwind romance into a new era of forever. On Tuesday, the couple announced their engagement in a joint post on Instagram with a cheeky caption: “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married.”

In the photos, Kelce is down on one knee in a dreamy rose-filled garden, with other shots showing the couple embracing and a close-up of Swift’s vintage diamond ring, estimated to be worth around $550,000.

The pair first sparked romance rumors in July 2023 when Kelce attended Swift’s concert at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Mo., where he plays football for the Kansas City Chiefs. At the time, he had attempted to give the singer a friendship bracelet with his number on it, but he later revealed that the gesture didn’t go exactly as planned.

“I was disappointed that she doesn’t talk before or after her shows because she has to save her voice for the 44 songs that she sings,” Kelce said on the July 26 episode of his New Heights podcast. “So, I was a little butt-hurt I didn’t get to hand her one of the bracelets I made for her.”

Even though he fumbled that opportunity, the Ohio native ended up getting the pop star’s attention in the end.

As Swift later told TIME, “This all started when Travis very adorably put me on blast on his podcast, which I thought was metal as hell. We started hanging out right after that… and we actually had a significant amount of time that no one knew, which I’m grateful for, because we got to get to know each other.”

Throughout their relationship, the two have shown up for each other in big ways. Kelce has jetted around the globe to catch Swift’s Eras Tour shows, while she’s cheered him on at more than a dozen football games — including the Chiefs’ Super Bowl win over the San Francisco 49ers in February. And when Swift finally appeared on New Heights in 2024, the episode became an instant phenomenon. It’s racked up more than 20 million views on YouTube as of Aug. 26, and set a Guinness World Record for the most concurrent viewers of a podcast on the platform — with 1.3 million fans tuning in live.

As it turns out, Kelce’s biggest win may not have come on the field, but with a diamond ring and a “yes” from Swift.
