In July of 2016, the first season of Stranger Things premiered. That’s right — this seminal series predates the pandemic, Donald Trump’s first term as president, and the actual entirety of Succession. But the supernatural events in the small town of Hawkins have kept audiences’ attention for nearly a decade — and finally, this winter, the story will come to an end. Read on for more information about what our heroes are facing, how to watch the first five minutes of the season 5 premiere, and the premiere date for all three parts.
When does Stranger Things Season 5 premiere?
This highly anticipated fifth and final season will release on Netflix across three premiere dates. Volume 1 (four episodes) will be released on November 26, Volume 2 (three episodes) will be released on Christmas, and The Finale will premiere on New Year’s Eve. Each volume releases at 5 p.m. PT.
Spoilers from the first five minutes of the season premiere
Following Thursday night’s season 5 premiere in Los Angeles, Netflix surprised fans by dropping a brand-new clip on YouTube. It features the first five minutes of the season 5 premiere, and it takes us back to where it all began: the 1983 disappearance of Will Byers (Noah Schnapp).
In the opening of the episode, titled “The Crawl,” we see young Will trapped in the Upside Down, quietly singing the Clash’s “Should I Stay or Should I Go” to steady his nerves. In an instant, a Demogorgon lunges — sending Will scrambling up a tree before taking a brutal fall. After he’s knocked out, the creature drags him straight to Vecna’s (Jamie Campbell Bower) lair. There, Vecna wraps Will in vines — one covering his mouth — and delivers a chilling promise: “At long last, we can begin. You and I, we are going to do such beautiful things together.”

Is there a Stranger Things Season 5 trailer?
Yes, the season trailer dropped a week ago, and it gives you a glimpse of what to expect from the final season. In the fall of 1987, Hawkins is scarred by the opening of the Rifts, and our heroes are united by a single goal: find and kill Vecna. But he’s vanished. Complicating their mission, the government has placed the town under quarantine in an effort to locate Eleven, forcing her to hide yet again. The final battle looms — and with it, a darkness more powerful and more deadly than anything they’ve faced before.
