Grab the popcorn, because the 2025 Golden Globe nominees are officially here! The Globes honor excellence in international film and television, and this year’s contenders contain all the content we couldn’t stop talking about this past year (including Wicked, which nabbed a few last-minute nods). Netflix’s Emilia Perez dominated, with a whopping 10 nominations, including for its three leads: Selena Gomez, Zoë Saldaña, and Karla Sofía Gascón. As far as TV shows, it may not surprise you to learn that The Bear led once again, with a total of five nominations — followed by Only Murders in the Building and Shōgun, which each got four.
Last year, the Globes added two new categories: achievement in stand-up comedy specials and achievement at the global box office. Both will be represented again this year, with Jamie Foxx, Nikki Glaser, Seth Meyers, Adam Sandler, Ali Wong, and Ramy Youssef among the stand-up nominees. Wicked, The Wild Robot, Alien: Romulus, Deadpool & Wolverine, Gladiator II, Twisters, Inside Out 2, and Beetlejuice Beetlejuice are competing for the global box office award.
When are the 2025 Golden Globes, and how can you watch them?
The Golden Globes will air on Sunday, Jan. 5, at 8 p.m. Eastern on CBS and will be available to stream on Paramount+.
Who is hosting the Golden Globes 2025?
Comedian Nikki Glaser will be emceeing the ceremony, and it seems like she’s excited to take up the gig. “The Golden Globes is not only a huge night for TV and film, but also for comedy,” she said in a statement. “It’s one of the few times that show business not only allows but encourages itself to be lovingly mocked (at least I hope so). (God, I hope so).”
She cheekily added, “It’s an exciting, yet challenging gig because it’s live, unpredictable and in front of Hollywood’s biggest stars (who also might be getting wasted while seated next to their recent exes).”
Hosting the Golden Globes can be a tough job — last year’s host, fellow comedian Jo Koy, came under fire for his monologue, which contained jokes about Barbie and Taylor Swift that critics slammed as sexist. (To give Koy some credit, he was only confirmed as the host a mere 10 days before the show.) So it’s not an exaggeration to say Glaser will be under a microscope — but given that the comedian has been delighting audiences with her irreverent humor for the past three seasons of the reality show F-Boy Island, we think she’ll bring it.
