About Minted
Mariam Naficy founded Minted in 2007 as something of an experiment. Inspired by her childhood around the Middle East and Africa, Naficy wondered how much creative talent was going unappreciated because the artists had no way to reach consumers. Minted held its first design challenge in 2008 to test whether crowdsourcing designs was a viable business model. After a few years of starts and stops, Minted is now a successful business that helps independent artists around the world gain exposure and build their brands. Offering everything from fine art to textile to stationery, Minted makes it easy to create a cohesive look while supporting an artist’s dream with every purchase.
Why we love them
For the interior-design buff who wants their home to stand out from the crowd, Minted is a dream come true. The website makes it easy to customize pieces: You can filter by aesthetic or space, and shop specific designers’ stores. Once you discover an artwork you like, choose between a print or canvas, select from a range of frames, pick out specialty mounting, and even change the color scheme.
