When you open Instagram, do you find yourself scrolling through cooking videos in hopes of gaining inspiration and some fun new faves? You’re not alone — Katie loves looking at viral recipes that she hopes to make herself. In an effort to actually get cooking, she and her friend Kelly Rizzo have started a video series called Is It As Good As It Looks?
In these witty and ultra-watchable tutorials, this dynamic duo tries their hand at the recipes currently dominating social media. On the menu this week? Dubai chocolate bars. For the uninitiated, this viral sensation is a rich slab of chocolate stuffed with kataifi (shredded phyllo dough) filling, alongside other sweet and savory goodies like dates and pistachios. The confection is a hit on TikTok because it’s very visually appealing — just breaking one in half is a sight to behold.
That said, we all know that looks aren’t everything. Luckily, Katie and Kelly have investigated whether or not the actual flavor lives up to the hype. What are their findings? You’ll have to watch to find out.
If you’re influenced to take a whack at this sweet treat, we’ve got the recipe on hand — though note that it also calls for drizzling optional white chocolate onto the final product for some added decadence (Katie and Kelly opted out). Feel Good Foodie, who wrote the recipe, has some specific pistachio butter guidance available that’s surprisingly easy (you’ll never buy a jar again). Plus, if you’re more of a visual learner, Feel Good Foodie has her own how-to video to supplement Katie and Kelly’s take.
