We’ve got not one, not two, but three amazing recipes, plus a whole lot of other recommendations for this holiday weekend

Happy Fourth of July, everyone! We hope this year’s celebration is a little more normal than last year’s. And whether you’re planning on soaking up the sun, manning the barbecue, or taking in a fireworks show, the KCM team has a few ideas of what to do (and quite a few ideas for what to cook!) while you enjoy the weekend.

What to Listen To:

The podcast Dolly Parton’s America. Nothing is more American than Dolly, baby! – Julia Lewis

What to Watch:

Too Hot To Handle on Netflix. If you need an escape this weekend, follow these stressed-out singles to a gorgeous beach resort where they can do anything but indulge in sexual pleasures. The goal is for these easily tempted adults to learn how to create more personal connections. If they abstain from any physical contact, from kissing to running all the bases, there’s a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. If they break rules, they lose money. – Maggie Parker

What to Read:

If you want a compelling beach read that you might just finish over the course of the long weekend, try The Last Thing He Told Me by Laura Dave. It’s about a woman who learns that her husband may not be the man she thinks she is. Oh, and did I mention it’s a Reese Witherspoon book club pick, soon to be made into a series starring Julia Roberts? Enough said! – Emily Pinto

What to Cook:

This Avocado and Edamame Salad recipe from Joy the Baker is almost 10 years old but I make it pretty much every summer for some event or another. The crunch of the radishes is such a good counterpoint to the softness of the avocado, and the gingery garlic dressing really drives the whole thing home. It’s absurdly easy to make, but every time I do, someone at the party asks, “WHO made this?” And I get to pretend to be humble. – Molly Simms

What ELSE to Cook:

This is my favorite chicken burger recipe: Chicken Avocado Burgers with Jalapeño Slaw. It’s so good for BBQs, especially on the Fourth of July, but I make them yearround! – Kat Ward

And…One More Thing to Cook:

Ina Garten’s French Onion Dip! Bring it to any Fourth of July party and you’re guaranteed to be invited back the next year. – Ciara Hopkinson
