Weekend Whats: Jane the Virgin‘s Justin Baldoni

Justin Baldoni

Actor and author Justin Baldoni stopped by for an episode of Next Question, and then told Katie about what he’ll be reading and (hopefully!) watching this weekend.

If you’re a fan of Jane the Virgin, then you know Justin Baldoni as the smoldering young heir to the Marbella hotel fortune, Rafael. If you haven’t seen Jane the Virgin, you might know Baldoni from his reputation as an outspoken feminist and proponent of male vulnerability. Baldoni has put this passion to paper in his new book Man Enough: Undefining My Masculinity, which he spoke to Katie about in the most recent episode of Next Question. After their conversation, Justin shared what he’s reading, watching, and wearing this weekend— and if you need us, we’re off to the store to buy a Faherty tee!

What I’m Reading:  I’m reading a book called The Paradox of Porn. Then I just bought An indigenous Peoples’ History of the United States, which was recommended to me. And I just finished Uncomfortable Conversations with a Black Man by Emmanuel Acho, which is fantastic. Then in between, I keep going back and rereading parts of Untamed by Glennon Doyle.

What I’m Cooking: I love to cook. I’m the cook in the house. I’m a mad scientist in the kitchen. My wife is vegan, and I recently made her vegan French toast with vegan bacon. Then the French toast had this coconut whipped cream that I made from scratch. I was really proud of that.

What I’m Currently Watching: Frozen 2...over, and over, and over again. And Daniel Tiger. Watching TV for pleasure is something I just haven’t had time for lately— I can’t believe I’m admitting it but those are the shows I watch more than anything.

What I Want to be Watching: When I have time to joy-watch again, I’m really excited to see the movie Tenet. For shows, I’ve heard The Underground Railroad is fantastic so I’m excited to watch that. Then I never got into Game of Thrones, so if I ever have the time, that’s on my list of shows to check out, too.

What I’m Wearing: I’m absolutely hooked on these really soft shirts from this company called Faherty. They’re collared shirts, but they’re so cozy it feels like wearing a sweatshirt. They’re so soft and comfortable.
