The Bachelor started in 2002 with a man named Alex Michel. In the final episode, Alex chose Amanda Marsh over Trista. But not getting the final rose was the best thing that could have ever happened to Trista. She went on to become the first Bachelorette in the show’s history and is still happily married to the man she gave her final rose to, Ryan Sutter.

In January 2009, women across America fell in love with 36-year-old Jason Mesnick during The Bachelor’s 13th season. In the finale, Jason got down on one knee and proposed to Melissa Rycroft. But just six weeks later, Jason stunned his new fiancée on national television when he called off their engagement and admitted that he was still in love with Molly Malaney, the season’s runner up. On the 26 seasons of The Bachelor and The Bachelorette, the drama never got old. But we’re all also suckers for a good love story. Two of the most recent successes are newly-engaged Sean and Catherine and newlyweds JP and Ashley.

They say nice girls finish last and as we’ve seen on a few seasons of The Bachelor, truer words have never been spoken. Erica Rose, Courtney Robertson and Vienna Girardi shook things up during Lorenzo, Ben and Jake’s seasons. Two of them walked away with the final rose, but none of them came home with a lot of new friends.
“Wow we’ve become such better people.” –Vienna Girardi

On The Bachelor and The Bachelorette, you’re not guaranteed a rose. The good news is, whether you get the final rose or not, you can still leave behind a lasting legacy. That’s why Katie and Chris are hosting the 1st Annual “Golden Rose Awards”!
